Close to Portreath

Hollow Tree Cottage is equidistant to the golden sandy beaches of Portreath and Porthowan, and within the heart of the Cornish Mining world Heritage area.

Portreath was a small fishing village and has many amenities such as bakery, convenience shop several pubs, cafe and hair dressers. Portreath can be reached via road or the Mineral tramway near our location where you can have a nice walk or bike ride.

There are seasonal restrictions with dogs on Portreath beach typically from Easter Sunday to 30th September 7am-7pm.

And Porthtowan

Porthtowan also boasts many amenities including Garage, Cafe, pubs, beauty salon and surf school Porthtowan also has the blue flag accreditation.

Things To Do

There are many beaches that allow dogs all year such as Perranporth, Trevaunance cove (St Agnes) and Mexico Towans (starting at the Hayle estuary and ending at Godrevy Lighthouse).

There is a local cycle hire centre 'Elm Farm' just half a mile from the cottage, where you can choose from many trails to cycle such as the Coast to Coast and Portreath branch line to Tehidy woods.

There are plenty of pubs and places to eat in the surrounding towns of Redruth and Camborne.

Further Afield

The towns of St Ives, Hayle and Penzance are a short drive away with shops, cafes and also world famous art galleries.

Along new Portreath Road there is Cornwall gold a tourist attraction open all year with cafe, Jewellery shop with workshop and activities for all the family including bear works and create and paint pottery.

Cornwall Gold also has one of the last working water mills in Cornwall that can be viewed.

Tehidy Country Park (just 4 miles from our location) is a wonderful place to visit for all the family it has 9 miles of foot paths and 250 acres of woodlands.

It is a haven for many species of wildlife including waterfowl.
